| Remember we are set in the Harvest Moon era guys... What IS allowed:Rotary/Dial Phones Basic Radios Small Color TVs Basic Kitchen Utensils Motor Boats Record Players What ISN'T allowed:Cell Phones iPods/MP3 Players/Zunes/etc Digital Cameras Computers Cars Flat Screen TVs If you've seen it in the HM-verse it's okay. However, be sure to as a staff member if you're really unsure. - In Depth:
Since many people have been asking for this, here is a little more in-depth guide about the technology.
If there is anything you would like to see added, please let us know!
Telephones Yes, telephones are getting their own section. While in the games you usually had to venture out to the inn to use the phone, you don't need to do that here. Your basic phone is relatively cheap and any household can afford one. The two types we have are the rotary and push dial. Rotary is the type where you had to circle the buttons around and push dial is like the phones we have today. Cell phones have not even been thought of yet at this point, and no phone is cordless.
Music Most music is either enjoyed live (at the bar/inn, on the street, at the festivals) or on records. Yes, we have those awesome record players. Record players are relatively cheap as well and most households can afford them, and the records themselves are cheap as well. While the way we listen to music is pretty old fashioned, the music doesn't have to be. Since cassette tapes aren't even mentioned yet, don't even think about iPods and the like.
Transportation No one has cars in the village, and the main reason is there are no roads. While the areas surrounding the village may be a little bigger than you think, it is mainly wilderness and paths worn-down by feet. There are no cars, motorcycles, motorized scooters, etc. If it has an engine, it doesn't run. You are welcome to ride animals, wear old-fashioned roller skates, bike, scooter, skateboard, or simply just walk to and from places though.
If you ever want to explore the surrounding ocean (which I encourage you to do) there are currently only two ways to do that. The first is using the ferry or renting a boat yourself. So, feel free to take a day on the ferry and explore the vast ocean, you never know what Prometheus might send your way.
Cooking Kitchen utensils are also very basic in the HM-verse, you usually only get the same eight utensils every game and those are: whisk, frying pan, pot, oven, mixer, spice rack, knife set, and the rolling pin. You may feel free to name other utensils (ice cream maker, coffee maker) but just keep in mind everything is very, very, very basic.
Cameras The only cameras that have been invented so far are the older ones some of us remember that use film. That's right, you have to develop your pictures once again. Most cameras are very basic and simple as well, and they only function they serve is taking pictures.
Television Alamos village has many stations and shows. Local news, sports, cartoons, education, just to name a random few. TVs themselves are in color, but you will find none of the 70 inch TVs, the biggest you could probably find is a 25-30 in.
